A Public Awareness Program was organized at Govt. Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur in observance of World Diabetes Day on 13 November 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about diabetes mellitus, its increasing prevalence, associated complications, and effective strategies for prevention and management, particularly among young women and the academic community.

The program featured Prof. Dr. Qazi Masroor Ali, Former Head of the Department of Medicine and Director of the Medical Education Department at Quaid-e-Azam Medical College (QAMC), Bahawalpur, as the guest speaker. In his comprehensive talk, he explained the pathophysiology of diabetes, common risk factors, and the alarming rise of the disease due to sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy dietary habits.

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of early diagnosis, regular blood glucose monitoring, and timely medical intervention to prevent long-term complications such as cardiovascular disease, kidney dysfunction, neuropathy, and visual impairment. Prof. Dr. Qazi Masroor Ali also highlighted the critical role of lifestyle modification, including balanced nutrition, physical activity, weight management, and stress control, in both prevention and effective disease management.

The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussion and seeking guidance on practical aspects of diabetes care, medication adherence, and long-term self-management. The program successfully addressed common misconceptions about diabetes and encouraged participants to adopt healthier lifestyle choices.
