Dr. Zulfiqar Ali is a renowned physician and a passionate academician, based in Dubai for approximately 30 years. He is a “Fellow” of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and has a special interest in medical emergencies, diabetes, and academia.

Dr. Ali currently performs his clinical duties at VIP Clinic DHA as a “Consultant Physician.” Furthermore, he is a teaching faculty at Dubai Medical College and “Professor of Medicine” at Sialkot Medical College, Pakistan. He is actively involved in teaching both undergraduates and postgraduates. Dr. Ali’s personal academic courses and workshops, such as Pearls of Clinical ECG, Pearls of Clinical Diabetes, Pearls of Clinical Toxicology, Pearls of Clinical Emergency Pharmacology, Emergency Radiology, ABG Interpretation, ABC of Diabetes, Essentials of Data Interpretation, etc., are regular features of Dubai Health Authority’s MED training schedule. Dr. Ali has been part of the teaching faculty for the Dubai Residency Training Program (DRTP) since 2008, as well as the training faculty for Arab Board Family Medicine preparatory courses. He has also been the International Faculty for the American Heart Association (2010-2016) for MENA and Pakistan and an instructor for many life support training courses.

Dr. Ali’s passion for academia extends far beyond lecture halls, most evident through his significant contributions to establishing a life support training network not only in UAE but also across Pakistan, including life support training centers at CPSP, AFIC Rawalpindi, Agha Khan University, Dow University Karachi, and SMC Sialkot. Similarly, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support in Iran, wrote the initial “Disaster Plan” of Rashid Hospital Dubai (2007), advised the Disaster Management Plan for Dubai International Airport (2008), and formulated a role-delineation document for Dubai ports (2008). Additionally, he actively contributed to organizing medical conferences as part of the organizing committee (IECM 2006-2009) and served as the Secretary General of IECM in 2008. Lastly, his research articles have been published in various local and international journals.

To acknowledge his contributions, Dr. Ali was nominated as a “Distinguished Specialist Employee” in 2009 for the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP). Similarly, in 2022, Dr. Ali received appreciation from H.E. Director General, Dubai Health Authority at the Arab Health 2022, for his remarkable achievement of authoring three books- Pearls of Clinical Diabetes, Pearls of Clinical ECG, and Tashkhees.

Dr. Ali is a member of various international medical organizations and societies. He was the founding member and first General Secretary of the Medical Wing of the Pakistan Association Dubai in 2008-09. Furthermore, Dr. Ali served as the President of Sialkot Medical Alumni (SMA) in 2015 and a founding executive member of the Association of Pakistani Physicians & Surgeons (APPS)-Middle East in 2021. He was nominated as “President” Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine - UAE Chapter by PSIM Executive Committee at 5th International Conference of PSIM held in Lahore & Islamabad in May 2024.
